The Escape
Part 1.

I remember standing in a field where everything smelled of fine soil, wet grass, and fresh bloomed  flowers. A faint yellow tinted everything. The sun hung in the air causing the scenery to give off a slight shine. As I stared into the blue sky filled with streaked clouds. That was when I  heard a familiar voice.
“My darling girl,” It said, “I've missed you so.”
It was a female voice, cool and calm. Spinning I was met with the face of my mother, who'd passed away a little over a year ago. She held a small but sad smile. Her gray eyes fixed on mine.
     “Mom?”
She calmly raised her hand as if to stop me from speaking or coming any closer, “we don't have much time, Ava. You need to get ready.”
“ready? Ready for what?” I asked.
“You can't forget, do you understand? Don't forget anything! Its very important.”
“Don't forget? Mom, I don't understand what you mean.”
“Don't give in.” she once more, sounding muffled as if she was getting farther away. Everything began to swirl and blur. A large bang emitted from what seemed like nowhere.

“Ava Lauren!” someone yelled as another bang erupted, causing me to shoot up. My wide eyes landing on the face of my teacher, Ms. Boothe. One of her hands resided on her hip, the other on my desk. She'd apparently hit it, being that that hand was becoming red, which explained the bangs. She held a look of frustration and disappointment.
“Falling asleep in class again?” She scowled.
“Sorry,” I said plainly, “wont happen again.” I lied.
She huffed and walked to the front of the class where she continued her lesson. I could hear a few high pitched girls a few seats behind me, giggling about how I was always being snapped at and how stupid I was. They immediately silenced when I turned just enough to glare at them from the corner of my eye. As I turned to face forward, a small smirk tugged at the corners of my lips. Scaring them was all too fun.
Most of the people at my school where never very fond of me. I had always received a lot of nasty looks and back talking but I never really minded. Being that I've always been a loner, I had no friends. I had no family, or at least none that stuck  around or could give a damn. I really couldn't care less about what people thought of me. In their eyes, I was just some scary girl always dressed in black. Oh well, I was perfectly content with it.
As I thought to myself, I doodled on the handout in front of me. Most of them being little creatures with sharp teeth or big ugly eyes. Pondering my next doodle, my eyes drifted to the window. I saw a few small buildings, the gym, some bushes, a couple trees, nothing out of the ordinary. Until my eyes settled of a cloud. It wasn't the normal fluffy white cloud you'd see on a normal day. No, this one was dark and it was coming from one of the other classrooms. Scanning the area quickly I noticed another plume of smoke coming from the gym, only slightly smaller. That's when the fire alarm went off.
Some people in the room seemed startled, but everyone casually lifted from their seats and headed toward the door. That was until a large explosion blew out the side of one of the separate classrooms a few buildings away. That's when almost everyone went into a panic. A few people cursed, others screamed, some people ran to get out, one girl cried. I was having mixed emotions, sure I was scared, but I was more so confused. You'd expect to see people bolting out of the other rooms, right? But there was nothing. Not one person came out from any other room. Something wasn't right.
Out of nowhere, five men came bursting into the room, letting in a gust of smoke from the outside.  The smoke caused me vision to blur for a moment. But my first assumption was the men were firemen, I was quickly proven wrong. When I started seeing clearly, I  noticed all five men wore gas masks and body armor. Three of them carried large guns on their backs while the other two both had a hand gun. One of the men was holding a can of some sort, as he dropped it, a smoke like substance leaked out. It quickly filled the air. Soon after, the world spun and everything went black.
